Newholme House – a home from home
Newholme House is a small independent care home established since 1985 by Tony Appleton which enjoys a good reputation for its high standards of care.
The home is located in the village of Great Baddow close to shops and transport links. Newholme House is a large Victorian property which has been converted to maintain its character and family home atmosphere. It has a large secluded garden which backs onto Great Baddow Park.
At Newholme House we aim to provide a friendly, informal environment where elderly residents can relax and enjoy their later years. Our approach to care is give support and encouragement to residents whilst maintaining as much of their independence as is possible.
We encourage family and friends to be actively involved in the residents lives and will always assist in arrangements for visits or trips out. We also encourage families to attend our entertainment afternoons and social events and to assist residents in continuing their hobbies and interests.
We take care to ensure our staff share our aims and values and maintain a dedicated and committed team of carers. Our strong emphasis on training means staff can provide the highest standards of care and we believe that relatives and residents should consulted and informed on all care issues.
The residents are offered a range of traditional dishes at mealtimes, with care taken to provide a healthy balanced diet using the freshest ingredients. Special diets and preferences are catered for and residents are consulted about menus regularly.
The garden is well furnished and residents and visitors are encouraged to make full use of it. It has a well stocked aviary and patio area which provides a peaceful place to sit and read or spend time with family and friends. The garden backs onto the bowling and tennis area of Baddow Recreation Ground which can be accessed for walks and activities.
Our visiting services include a hairdresser, chiropodist, optician and a dentist. Newholme House provides regular in-house entertainment which include musical groups, theatre productions and individual performers. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities such as bingo, crafts and quizzes.
We have a bright comfortable lounge and spacious dining room which offer a relaxing environment to watch television, listen to music or simply chat with friends.
Bedrooms at Newholme House are fully furnished but residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms so they feel at home – whether it be a loved armchair or ornaments and pictures. First floor rooms are accessed via a passenger lift with the downstairs bathroom fitted with a specialist bath.
