Newholme House is a private, independent home which was established in 1985 by Tony Appleton. Tony lives locally and is always available and involved when needed. Newholme House is dedicated to providing the very best individualised care and we believe relationship centred care ensures we maintain the highest standards whilst acknowledging all those involved in a residents life.
Our staff turnover is very low and we consider it to be one of our strengths. The vast majority of our staff have been at Newholme House for a very long time. As a result, we all have the benefit of getting to know our residents very well as individuals and they too get to know us.
We take care to ensure our staff share our aims and values and work well together towards the best outcomes for our residents. Our recruitment process is rigorous and includes complete employment checks prior to a full induction period for each staff member. Our team of Senior Carers and Care Assistants are fully supported by a housekeeper, a domestic, maintenance worker and two cooks.
The home is managed by Carmel Walsh, who has worked at Newholme House since 1990. Carmel had previous experience in two other care homes working with a range of clients, including those with dementia at various stages. Initially working part time at Newholme House, Carmel has been a full time carer for nine years becoming Deputy Manager in 1999 and Registered Manager in 2001.
